The PROMISEANG project marks the successful conclusion of its first year celebrating a 2nd General Assembly at the UVIGO Campus in Ourense, Spain.
This event brought together project partners, both in person and online, to review the progress achieved across all work packages during the first year of this innovative initiative that aims to use alternative proteins to create nutritious, high-value, sustainable food, feed and non-food products.
The meeting featured an intense day of discussions and collaborative efforts, focusing particularly on marine waste sampling and the processes for extracting proteins. These processes aim to scale up for the development of both food and non-food products. Participants delved into the technical challenges and opportunities, laying the groundwork for the next phases of the project.
Attendees had the opportunity to visit one of the laboratories involved in the project. This visit showcased the latest progresses, including real samples and demonstrations of protein extraction methods. It also facilitated continued dialogue about the next steps and strategies for scaling the findings.
Looking ahead, PROMISEANG aims to publish its first research results in the coming year.
These publications will detail the efficiency of protein extraction processes, their nutritional value, and potential applications. This knowledge aims to support the development of innovative products in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries, reinforcing the project’s commitment to sustainable innovation and circular economy.
